The First Citadel

Does global prehistory intrigue you? Secret caves? Ancient manuscripts? Giant skulls? This story blends facts, fiction, and fantasy to portray the unusual young life of Blake Burmeister and his globe-trotting archaeologist grandfather, Doctor Henry Covington, who delves into the mysterious anomalies of his profession, which he shares with his precocious grandson, who eventually takes up that fascinating profession.

As their stories mature, Henry has a surreal experience in the Altai Mountains of southern Russia at an ancient, majestic volcanic island palace protected by a geoenergized crystal wall—home to the last surviving pair of giant Atlanteans and their unique android staff.

The two educate Henry about their cultures’ rise and fall, then implore him to send Blake and three talented companions to learn from the Atlantean experience how they can work in the modern world to prevent a repeat! Meanwhile, a recently released lethal Atlantean creation threatens chaos before they even begin.

Their lives are forever reshaped!

Robert Kenneth Hatch writes from an open and broadminded world view encompassing aspects of the meta-physical and physical. Both comprise the totality of creation and impact temporal lives. His meta-physical insights are inspired by his wife, Monica, herself a gifted hyper-intuitive, and deep curiosity to explore the creation's vast truths.

Readers will find in his stories and poems elements of nature, human nature, mystery, adventure, cosmic and temporal spirituality, and, often, infusions of exploratory science fiction or fantasy as he reaches out to others through words he hopes resonate and that prompt critical thought and imagination. He has an affinity for conveying the synthesis or confluence of seemingly disparate aspects of life-its delicious anomalies and complexities. Be his guest. Read his mind. Glimpse his spirit.
