Measures 6 ¾"x 5" The Gounod Society, founded in 1887, was a small choral society located in New Haven, CT which grew to have over 300 members who regularly performed large choral works with the New Haven Symphony. Eventually the society disbanded sometime after 1903 largely due to the fact that that was when the New Haven Oratorio Society was founded. The Gounod Society was known for performing glees and part songs, which is exemplified in this program for their first concert of the 1888 Season.
