Frank Baron, a long-time member of the Berkeley civil engineering faculty who was especially noted for his pioneering research in seismic analysis and design of major bridge structures, died on October 17, 1994, at the age of 80. Baron was most fortunate that during his studies at the University of Illinois he was exposed to two of the great teachers in civil engineering: H. M. Westergaard and Hardy Cross. He was respected worldwide for his pioneering research in seismic and wind analysis and design of large and complex structures, especially long-span bridges and roof structures. Perhaps his most publicized research project was his development of methods of analysis for determining the effects of strong seismic. Bookseller Inventory # 0013824
