The First Dysfunctional Family: A Modern Guide to the Book of Genesis

Bible families are just like ours-loving, caring, and as out of control and dysfunctional. Like them, we continue to complicate our lives by making unfair comparisons, showing conditional love, blaming and shaming, and exhibiting perfectionism, compulsive and/or addictive behavior and denial. Sin-repeated, studied, and mastered-continues to make the world a dangerous and unholy place. Where did our ancestors go wrong? where did we? But there is good news-we don't have to remain dysfunctional. In tracing the generations from Creation, we may learn how to avoid their mistakes in our own family relationships. And through all of this dysfunctional rebellion, reconciliation, and return, we will see that God is there cheering us on, never giving up on us despite how badly we have treated Him and each other.
