First Frost: A Novel

“In returning to the Waverley household, the winsomely wise Allen demonstrates that sometimes it’s necessary to embrace the magic to find out what’s real in life and in one’s own heart.”

A magical novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Lost Lake featuring characters from her beloved novel Garden Spells.

Autumn has arrived. It’s business as usual in the small, picturesque town of Bascom, North Carolina. But for sisters Claire and Sydney Waverley, first frost has something else in store.

Claire has started a new venture, Waverley’s Candies. Though her handcrafted confections are a success, running the shop is costing her the everyday joys of family life. Sydney, too, is losing her balance: With each passing day she longs more for a baby while her daughter, Bay, pines for a boy who seems completely out of reach. But when an unexpected guest shows up at the Waverleys’ doorstep―one who challenges the very heart of the family―each woman must make a fateful choice during this extraordinary season of change...
