Despite fear mongering in the news, tens of millions of people keep and bear arms and always have. It s a fun, practical, safe sport and tradition. It s true. Find out why!
In plain English and without the macho mumbo jumbo, Your First Gun moves past the scare stories and myths, and in simple Q&A format answers the key questions non-gun owners wonder about, that gun owners take for granted.
Get this book for yourself, or for friends and relatives who fear guns to help them move past their worries, to at least understand why so many good, decent, honest people keep guns for all the right reasons. The media hides these truths from the public -- you can actually help change the public debate and improve the safety of American society by putting this rational common-sense information in the hands of people you know and love.
Sample questions from the book: Why do you even want a gun? Where would you put the thing? What good is it if you have to keep it locked up? What's the point if a criminal has a gun pointed at you? Where should you get what kind of gun, and what are the right ones for you? How do you make all the decisions, and what do you do about all the conflicting advice? Does a gun really make you safer? Isn't it dangerous to keep a gun at home? Why is the NRA so polarizing? How much ammo should you buy? What does "buying off paper" mean?
Your First Gun gives you the intellectual ammunition you need to make a smart choice, and if you decide to bear arms, how to do so responsibly and with finesse so you don't look like some rube with no clue. Decades of wisdom boiled down to an easy and enlightening read.
Women are now the fastest growing segment of the market and for good reason -- guns represent empowerment, equality, and shatter the glass ceiling, it's not a man's world anymore. For many couples, it is the woman who understands that a gun in the home provides safety and security. This book explores the social and cultural questions men and women need answered, to get you ready mentally for the changes that come with being armed.
Gun ownership is normal healthy behavior, and Bloomberg News recently reported that more than half of all homes have at least one firearm, contradicting the book's position that half of all homes have guns. The figure is not precisely known, since gun ownership is a private matter in a free country like the United States. Half of everyone's neighbors own firearms, how about that. If you're thinking about joining them, read this book first and make smart choices about Your First Gun.

About the Author
Mr. Korwin wrote the business plan that raised $5 million in venture capital and launched the in-flight catalog SkyMall; he did the publicity for Pulitzer Prize cartoonist Steve Benson s fourth book; working with American Express, he wrote the strategic plan that defined their worldwide telecommunications strategy for the 1990s; and he had a hand in developing ASPED, Arizona s economic strategic plan. Korwin s writing appears nationally regularly.
Korwin turned his first book, The Arizona Gun Owner s Guide, into a self-published best-seller, now in its 25th edition. With his wife Cheryl he operates Bloomfield Press, which has grown into the largest publisher and distributor of gun-law books in the country. Built around ten books he has written on the subject, it includes the unabridged federal guides Gun Laws of America and Supreme Court Gun Cases, a line of more than 250 books, buttons and DVDs, and more than 1,000 radio and TV appearances. He was an invited guest at the U.S. Supreme Court for oral argument in D.C. v. Heller, which led to his 11th book, The Heller Case: Gun Rights Affirmed. His 12th book, on the limits of free speech, Bomb Jokes at Airports, was followed by After You Shoot: Your gun s hot. The perp s not. Now what? His 14th book, in 2013, is Your First Gun.
Alan Korwin is originally from New York City, where his clients included IBM, AT&T, NYNEX and others, many with real names. He is a pretty good guitarist and singer, with a penchant for parody (his current band is The Cartridge Family). In 1986, finally married, he moved to the Valley of the Sun. It was a joyful and successful move.
