The First Prayer-Book: As Issued by the Authority of the Parliament of the Second Year of King Edward Vi (Classic Reprint)

This book presents a snapshot of the ecclesiastical reforms in the Church of England and the major revision undertaken by the English reformers in the 1500s. It signifies a decisive break from medieval Catholicism and the rise of the Protestant Reformation. It provides a rare glimpse into the tension between Protestant and Catholic theologians through primary source material, including original transcripts from the debates and the arguments made for each theological position. The compilation of these records, in the year's following the Reformation, sought to establish a uniform, quiet, and godly order for the celebration of Holy Communion and administration of the sacraments. This significant text continues to hold significant value for theology, history and literature students concerned with the history of the Church of England, and the broader study of the English Reformation.
