First and Second Peter (Everymanís Bible Commentary Series)

At his best, the apostle Peter could be eager, energetic, daring, bold, and courageous. But, like most of us, Peter had rough edges. At times before Christ's ascension, Peter could be fickle, weak, impulsive, and cowardly. He had an opinion on every subject, and he expressed it on many occasions. We are drawn to Peter because he was so typically human, and we can identify with his successes and failures.

It is this Peter, so like us, whose name is attached to two New Testament letters that have as much to say to us today as they did to their first recipients nearly two millennia ago. According to Bible teacher and professor Lou Barbieri, no study of First and Second Peter wold be complete without understanding the background of this apostle, his service under Christ, and his calling. So, that's where the book begins.

Consistent with all volumes of the Everyman's Bible Commentary series, Dr. Barbieri has prepared an easy-to-understand and practical study. This new edition is packed with wise insights about our great salvation and our conduct as Christians before God, the world, and fellow believers. It also includes strong reminders from Peter's second letter to oppose false teachers and false doctrines that creep in and seek to destroy the church.

If you're looking for an in-depth, approachable commentary on First and Second Peter, this book is for you.
