These two landmark prayer books, published during the reign of Edward VI in 1549 and 1552, mark a crucial moment in the English Reformation. They represent a shift from the Latin liturgical traditions of the Roman Catholic Church to a distinctly English form of Protestant worship. Introducing the vernacular into religious services, these texts shaped the future of Anglicanism, influencing both theology and daily worship practices. The second book shows a more definitive Protestant theology compared to the first.
