About the Author:
The First Six Weeks of School contains the collective wisdom of educators who have collaborated over thirty plus years to develop and continually refine the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching.
Roxann Kriete and Paula Denton wrote the first edition of this book to provide educators a foundation for a successful start to the school year. By collecting research and advice from Responsive Classroom developers and practitioners, this book has changed the lives of a generation of teachers and students. Mike Anderson, former elementary educator, Responsive Classroom consultant and Responsive Classroom program developer, crafted the second edition of this well-loved book. His charge was to build upon the success of the first edition by bringing in the recent articulations of Responsive Classroom practices and fresh examples of these practices being used in today's classrooms.
Center for Responsive School acknowledges the team of contributors to this book: Jim Brissette, Sarah Fillion, Mary Beth Forton, Courtney Fox, Babs Freeman-Loftis, Suzy Ghosh, Trisha Hall, Cathy Hess, Julia Luteran, Lynn Majewski, Caitie Meehan, Helen Merena, Elizabeth Nash, Kerry O'Grady, Diana Pelletier, Carolyn Rottman, Jill Samuels, Marc Swygert, Cory Wade, Margaret Berry Wilson, and Alice Yang.
