About the Author

Dr. Timothy C. Winegard is a <i>New York Times</i> bestselling and award-winning author of six books including <i>The Horse: A Galloping History of Humanity</i> and <i>The Mosquito: A Human History of Our Deadliest Predator</i>. He holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, served as an officer in the Canadian and British Armies, and has appeared on numerous documentaries, television programs, and podcasts. Winegard is an associate professor of history at Colorado Mesa University.
Sir Hew Strachan FRSE</strong> is Professor of International Relations at the University of St Andrews. He was Chichele Professor of the History of War at the University of Oxford from 2002 to 2015.
