Cinema was almost twenty years old when WWI broke out but the war introduced radical changes in the making and use of film. The First World War and Popular Cinema is a new attempt to provide a comparative analysis of how the war has been remembered in film. About the Author

Michael Paris is Senior Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Central Lancashire. He formerly worked for the Open University and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Previous publications include Novels of the Second World War and Winged Warfare, and From the Wright Brothers to "Top Gun": Aviation, Nationalism and Popular Cinema.
