33pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 34 characteristic Harper's engravings, salvaged from damaged issues of Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Volume LXI, No. 363 and 364, August / September, 1880. Illustrations include a scene of the appropriate equipment, cleaning fish, a flake yard, Hakers off Half-way Rock, shooting wild fowl in the breakers, a snub, Hulks on Orr's Island, a sing on Monhegan Island, vestiges of property on Burnt Cove, a Deer Island farm house, the cabin of a jigger, underrunning the trawl, bringing home the sheep in boats, repairing damaged nets, the light-house at Monhegan, the Monhegan post office, a mackerel schooner, harpooning sword-fish, midnight watch on the ship Hascall, and bringing the nets ashore. Housed in protective mylar report cover.
