About the Author
In their nursing practice, Chantal and Denise could see that most people have no nutrition plan, resulting in poor dietary choices that often lead to poor health. They had a need to share their plan with the world. Therefore they created a book that plans for healthy eating.
Chantal and Denise believe that their book saves time, money and helps improve the health and fitness of busy individuals. "Fit to Cook-Why 'Waist' Time in the Kitchen?" is their contribution to preventive medicine!
Both Denise and Chantal come from farming backgrounds, became nurses and now are active promoters of healthy eating and an active lifestyle. Was there something contagious in that country air? Whatever it was, they're happy to spread it and they hope you'll catch it too!
Denise Hamilton, co-author, was born in a farming community in Saskatchewan, Canada but grew up in rural areas of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. In her nursing experience in a family practice and in her work at a weight loss clinic, Denise became aware of the widespread lack of nutrition knowledge in the general public. After winning an academic award in an Athabasca University nutrition course, Denise searched for an effective way to help people to eat better. While working with Chantal Jakel in a medical clinic, she recognized the serious effects of poor nutrition on the patients. This led to the birth of "Fit to Cook-Why 'Waist' Time in the Kitchen?"
Chantal Jakel, co-author, was born and raised on a dairy farm in rural Quebec, Canada. Family health issues led her on a search for nutrition information. Therefore, using nutrition and fitness as disease prevention became Chantal's main interest during her years of nursing. Her involvement in demanding physical activities expanded her nutrition knowledge to accommodate the high-energy needs of athletes. The pursuit of balance in life, everything in moderation, is her philosophy.
Chantal and Denise created "Fit to Cook-Why 'Waist' Time in the Kitchen?" to teach people "how to" create TIME-SAVING, LOW-FAT, BALANCED, HEALTHY menus. Their motto "EAT WELL, GET MOVING, FEEL BETTER!" compelled them to complete their healthy eating book with an exercise plan. That is why they invited Cynthia Kereluk to write a fitness program for their healthy lifestyle cookbook.
Cynthia Kereluk, co-author and former MISS CANADA, was born in Saskatchewan, Canada but currently lives in the British Columbia, Canada countryside. At age six, Cynthia became fascinated with a book on healthy living. She developed her first awareness of a healthy attitude into her lifestyle and career. To promote health, Cynthia has produced exercise videos and 800 plus internationally syndicated television shows called "Everyday Workout." She has been rated T.V.'s #1 FEMALE EXERCISE HOST in North America according to exercise physiologists in "Self," "Longevity" and "Good Housekeeping" magazines. Cynthia Kereluk believes that good health is ageless, but requires an effort and "Exercise should complement your daily routine, not dictate it."
