When Thomas Evans, II was born on 24 March 1702, in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Thomas Evans, was 39 and his mother, Hannah Brown, was 34. He married Dorothy Stockman on 14 December 1721, in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 15 May 1743, at the age of 41. Evans widow, Dorothy, paid off a number of his debts, including: --BENJAMIN MORRILL (1697-1788), who apparently served as a lieutenant in the Colonial militia. Offering Morrill s receipt to Dorothy: 1 ½ x 7 ½, April 20, 1747, "Received of the widow Dorothy Evans (spelled Evens on the receipt) the full of all accounts due to me from the estate of Thomas Evens, Late of Salisbury.Received by me. Benjamin Morrill" --ANDREW WEBSTER, 2 ¼ x 7 ¾, Salisbury, November 20th, 1744, "This day received of Dorothy Evens, late widow of Mr. Thomas Evens, deceased.of thirteen pounds.Andrew Webster" --STEPHEN WEBSTER, 2 ¼ x 5 ½, Salisbury, December 28, 1744, "This day received of Dorothy Evens, administrator to the estate of Thomas Evens, late of Salisbury [amount] which was due me from the estate nine pounds sixteen shillings.received by me Stephen Webster" --AARON MORRILL (1692-1760) 2 ½ X 6 ¼, "Received of Dorothy Evens, widow of Thomas Evens, late of Salisbury, rec d the sum of sixteen shillings and five pence which is in full of all accounts.Rece d by me Aaron Morrill." Some accounts have Morrill as having been born in 1689 in Salisbury, British Colonial America. One states that his father was Captain Jacob Morrill, a Quaker who was not well thought of by local Puritans. In 1657, a law was passed in Salisbury against harboring Quakers. Violators were subject to a fine of 40 Schillings. --JUDAH MORRILL, 3 ½ X 4, 1747, "Received of the widow Evens, nine shillings by me Judah Morrill."
