Written by a prolific New York author who was a member of the NY legislature in early 1800's. He was also a candidate for Governor of New York in 1828 and ran as an anti-Masonic candidate; he played an unwitting role in Martin Van Buren's maneuverings to win the governor's office in that year. Contains four essays on: the Theater, Circus, Intemperance, Interlude, Bad Examples. The title page indicates the author was: "A Man of Sixty.
