Fix It Yourself for Less (The Homeowner's Library)

Don't throw it out, fix it! This handy guide offers step-by-step illustrated instructions for repairing more than 40 common household items. It also helps readers locate hard-to-find parts and includes a brand-name directory. A practical and indispensable reference book that belongs in every home library.

Sooner or later every household appliance--refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, toaster, fan--will squeal, leak, malfunction, or stop. Schultz describes and outlines how to right a number of the more common appliance problems, which can be repaired by the home handyperson using basic tools. In addition to large and small electric and gas appliances, repairs for small gasoline engines, power tools, and outboard motors are presented in side-by-side columns of text and related photos. No book this size--covering over 40 common household items that vary in design from manufacturer to manufacturer--is going to enable the handyperson with limited experience to correct all problems. However, it serves as a useful and helpful guide for determining when to attempt repairs oneself or when to call for help. For large home maintenance collections.
