How To Fix Your Mind Creatures

Plenty of books teach happy, sad, and mad. But nobody warned you about the other ones.

Grumble-Lump, the hangry creature who roars before dinner. The Squirmy Worms in your legs when the car ride won’t end. The Sillies who attack mid-scolding. The No-Fairs who scream when the cake says no. And the Too-Muches who arrive when the day gets loud.

These are the feelings children actually have, and this book finally introduces them properly: as wee pets with names and messages. Because a feeling with a name can be listened to instead of fought. And a kid who can say, “The Too-Muches are here,” instead of melting down has handed the whole family a way through the moment.

Told in playful rhyme and made for reading aloud, with room for every child to name creatures of their own.

Ages 4 to 8. A stand-alone companion to How to Fix Your Parents—though the parents in that book could probably use a nap too.
