Fixable (Paperback)

Paperback. For forty years he looked completely fine. Inside, his brain was running a war that never stopped. And when his father took his last breath, Brett Bauma was holding his hand - fully present for the first time in his life. This is the story of how he got there.Brett hid severe OCD from nearly everyone. Not the punchline version - the real thing. Driving loops that turned a simple commute into hours of circling back to check for accidents that never happened. Two years refusing to let his family eat cherries from their own tree. Four psychiatrists. Two decades of medications. None of it worked. Then his wife got cancer. While preparing for a full mastectomy, Whitney sat him down and said the bravest thing anyone had ever said to him: she could not carry his OCD while carrying cancer at the same time. She needed him present. All the way.She fought for her body. He fought for his mind. Side by side. They both won.Fixable is not a clinical guide. It is the book Brett went looking for the day he was diagnosed - and could not find. A real person, in plain language, describing what this disease actually feels like from the inside, and what it feels like when it finally stops. If you have ever fought something nobody around you could see - or love someone who has - this was written for you.It is fixable.
