Up In Flames

ONE WRONG STEP LANDED HIM IN MY ARMS. TEN DAYS IN EACH OTHER’S PROXIMITY MIGHT LAND ME IN AN EARLY GRAVE.
He’s young, vibrant, and everything I’m not. He’s also the one spark I can’t put out.

KNOX I am a man of routine. Between running my construction business and volunteering as a firefighter, I keep my head down and my life simple. But when a mandatory rest order forces me to take a break, I feel the silence of my empty house louder than ever. Everyone around me is finding their happily ever after, while I’m just… tired. A night out at a new bar was supposed to be a distraction. I didn't expect to catch a falling stranger and feel a jolt that would shake my entire world.

TAYLOR I am a whirlwind of beautiful chaos. Fresh out of a catastrophic relationship that left me numb and at odds with my family, I’m just trying to survive my own birthday. I wanted a night of fun to forget the past, not to literally crash into a brooding, older stranger who looks at me like I’m trouble. I know better than to chase a man who screams "straight and unavailable," especially when my own heart is still in pieces.

THE SPARK But fate isn't finished with them. When Knox arrives at a new job site, it’s Taylor who opens the door.
Suddenly, the man he can't stop thinking about is everywhere. The attraction is undeniable, a magnetic pull that defies Knox’s history and his fears. But he’s over forty and set in his ways, and Taylor’s terrified of being burned again.
As the heat rises, they have to decide if this is just a flicker of lust or a fire worth fighting for. The job won’t take long and then they’ll both move on, leaving them with just ten days to figure it out before everything goes up in flames.
