Flash (Photographer's Library)

This book provides all the information you need to get the most from your flash equipment, however simple or complex it may be. Derek Watkins has written a comprehensive and readable guide to the working and use of flash. He explains how to get enough light on your subject, indoors and out, with all types of equipment, and, much more than that, how to manipulate your flash to provide the lighting you harsh or soft, from the camera or from the side, with the right contrast for the subject. He also includes an explanation of how the different types of flash work, the importance of exposure in flash photography, basic and more complex lighting set-ups and the very special problems of flash with colour. If you think that flash is nothing more than a recent invention designed purely for indoor work, read this book. You will find that flash has a surprisingly long history, and a wide range of applications out of doors as well as indoors. And with increased knowledge of how to use flash, you can make better pictures.
