Flavonoids in the Living System

Science validates mothers' admonitions to drink your orange juice. Since it was discovered in 1936 that citrus flavonoids are crucial to capillary function, flavonoids have been studied particularly for their medicinal properties. These 18 papers offer current perspectives on their biological properties in the gamut of organisms. A sampling of titles includes: flavonoids and arbuscular-mycorrhizial fungi, prospects for the metabolic engineering of bioactive flavonoids and related phenyl compounds, inhibition of mammary cancer by citrus flavonoids, and flavonoids as hormones: a perspective from an analysis of molecular fossils.
