Flicker: 1 (Simply Senryu)

'Although the poems are short as the haiku style usually is P.J. Reed ignites the imagination with the rich visual imagery contained within her verse and the way in which the words knock together creating sparks.' DR

Flicker is a delightful collection of senryu or human haiku. In Flicker, Reed has brought together a series of poetic postcards, entwining the ever-changing nature of the Devon countryside, with the lives of some of the fascinating people she has encountered on her travels.

This collection is a rollercoaster of human emotions, ranging from sensitive portrayals, to a wicked commentary of a host of characters she has met in her travels including jealous wives, wandering husbands, bored businessmen, an ever-scribbling writer, a time traveller, and the infamous animal man of Crediton.
