My Flight to Freedom: A Journey Of Healing (Paperback or Softback)

My Flight to Freedom is the intimate healing journey of Robert Duval from a background of incredible childhood trauma.

Reverend David Wells - General Superintendent; The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, says:

"My Flight to Freedom: A Journey of Healing takes us on a journey that few, especially "self-made" men are willing to go.

Highly successful trader, husband, adoptive father, volunteer pilot, and international speaker, Robert seemed to have it all—except what he sought most desperately: inner peace, joy, and contentment. From a childhood background of deep trauma, abuse, and abandonment, join Robert in search of his true identity.

Wrestle with Robert in the chaos of the financial market trading pits, fly the skies above northern Canada in a single-engine airplane, and travel to the ends of the earth in Christian service. Then kneel with him as he finds the approval he craves.

Finally, struggle with Robert and his wife Carmen as they fight the battle of their lives when their daughter receives a devastating diagnosis.

Robert’s life of incredible purpose for God, along with overwhelming pain and loss will inspire you. Journey with him as he finds the healing he seeks, and a conviction of his true value as a dearly beloved child of God.

A brief message from Robert:

I should not be alive today - my life is a genuine miracle.

A lot of us are walking around, even Christians, wearing a brave, faith-filled mask on our faces, underneath living with unforgiveness, depression, even anxiety, truth be told. And we are deeply stuck and can’t understand why. I was one of those for over 20 years as a very committed, serving Christian.

I experienced every form of abuse during my childhood, along with abandonment from the age of 11. I was programmed from a young age at a deep level, that I was unlovable, unworthy. I did not know my true identity, even after finding Christ as a young man of 22, the first in my family.

I tried to find man’s affirmation and my true identity in so many ways —marriage, becoming successful in business, serving in the church and in missions — all in a vain effort to earn the Father’s love and approval for me that was already freely given. Nothing worked, and His precious peace, joy, and assurance on this earth eluded me.

I finally learned, after many years, nothing but Jesus can ever fill our deepest holes, our deepest wounds. Through a long, winding journey, I finally invited Jesus in to heal my shattered heart, and I finally embraced my true identity as his adopted, beloved son.

I have found peace — even His joy — even after the greatest trauma a person can face, a peace that simply should not be possible.

If that’s you, hurting and confused, or someone you love, I would encourage you to read my book.

May you find the peace you are seeking.
