Our Florida Backyard

Kinder Square Kids, Fernandina and Marion, explore the natural beauty of Florida in this richly illustrated children’s book. Written by children’s authors Robin MacBlane and Larry Whitler who tell this tale through a series of letters exchanged between Fernandina and Marion.

The younger Fernandina is more of a country girl while Marion (who is one year and two months older) is more of a city girl. So when Marion visits Fernandina at her home in rural Central Florida, Fernandina can’t wait to show Marion the alligators, manatees, and all the other flora and fauna in her “backyard.”

After the visit the girls exchange letters recalling the fun they had during their visit together. Those letters reveal a rich experience and an even richer friendship.

Our Florida Backyard is both entertaining and educational for young readers and will stimulate conversation between the child and adult who share this reading experience together.
