Let It Flow!: Writing for Wellness

Designed to explore the world of words, "Let It Flow: Writing for Wellness" provides an overview of writing as a tool to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Dr. JoAnn Streeter Shade, a long-time social service provider and author, uses journaling, list-making, non-fiction writing, story-telling, and poetry to open artistic doors for the mental health services consumer as well as for those in the helping professions. Throughout these pages, creative writing exercises are joined with wise counsel from successful authors to encourage and affirm the fledgling writer. Used individually or with a writing coach or counselor, the power of the written word will offer restoration and hope when expressed with persistence and courage.

JoAnn Streeter Shade has walked alongside others for more than thirty-five years, ministering in Salvation Army congregations and social service programs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio, and at North Coast Family Foundation, a Christian counseling center in Northeast Ohio. She is the author of more than twenty books in a variety of genres. She is a weekly columnist for the Ashland Times-Gazette and is a regular contributor to a number of Salvation Army publications. She is married to Larry, is the mother of three adult sons, Greg, Drew and Dan, and Lauren, a beloved daughter-in-law, and is Nana to the lovely Madelyn Simone and the delightful Elizabeth Holiday. She combines her academic training from Ashland Theological Seminary with a writer's eye, a pastor's heart, and a grandmother's joy through Gracednotes Ministries.
