Six stories relate the adventures of the fairy folk and their friends, the flowers
About the Author: Louisa May Alcott (1832 - 1888), hailed in her day as "the children's friend," is remembered primarily for her sagas of the March family -- Little Women, Little Men, Jo's Boys -- which have been immortalized on stage and screen. Not as well known are a series of sensational thrillers for adults, published anonymously during Alcott's lifetime. Many of these novels are in print today, including A Long Fatal Love Chase, A Modern Mephistopheles, and The Marbel Woman. Supporting herself and her family with the income from her prolific pen, Alcott also worked as a teacher, served as a nurse during the Civil War, and actively supported the causes of abolition and women's suffrage.
