The book covers laminar flow (viscous flow), turbulent flow, boundary layer theory, flow through pipe, pipe flow measurement, orifices and mouthpieces, flow past submerged bodies, flow through open channels, notches and weirs, and compressible flows. The concepts are supported by numerous solved examples and multiple-choice questions to aid self-learning in students. The book also contains illustrated diagrams for better understanding of the concepts. The book is extremely useful for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering and natural sciences.

About the Author

Shiv Kumar is Ex. Associate Professor and the HOD, College of GGSIP University, Delhi, India. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Machine design and Automation Engineering from NIT Jalandhar, Punjab, and master’s degree in Thermal Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (presently Delhi Technological University, Delhi). He has 18 years of teaching experience. He has authored several other books in core subjects of mechanical engineering like heat and mass transfer, fluid systems, engineering graphics, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics and fluid machines, basics of mechanical engineering and elements of mechanical engineering.
