- Book 6 of 7: The Practical Flutter Series
Build Flutter apps you can test, trust, and confidently release.
Writing a Flutter application that works is only the beginning. Production applications need reliable tests, repeatable builds, automated quality checks, and a delivery pipeline capable of catching problems before they reach users.
Flutter Testing and CI/CD is a practical guide to building a complete testing and release workflow for modern Flutter applications. Instead of treating testing as an afterthought, you will learn how to design Flutter applications for testability from the beginning and choose the right testing strategy for each layer of your app.
Using the practical TaskFlow application throughout the book, you will move from fast unit tests to widget testing, visual regression testing, integration testing, real device validation, continuous integration, and automated releases.
You will learn how to:
• Design Flutter applications with clear, testable boundaries
• Write effective Dart unit tests for business logic and application state
• Test ViewModels, repositories, asynchronous code, streams, and concurrency
• Choose appropriately between fakes, mocks, stubs, and real dependencies
• Build reliable Flutter widget tests for forms, navigation, dialogs, and user interactions
• Use golden tests to detect visual regressions
• Test responsive layouts, accessibility, and Flutter semantics
• Create stable integration and end-to-end testing workflows
• Use Patrol for native platform interactions
• Test Firebase services with the Firebase Emulator Suite
• Test APIs, persistence, failure scenarios, and recovery behavior
• Build automated Flutter pipelines with GitHub Actions
• Run applications across device environments with Firebase Test Lab
• Manage test coverage and production quality gates
• Automate Android and iOS builds
• Use fastlane for repeatable mobile releases
• Design safer release gates, staged rollouts, rollback strategies, and post-release verification
The book follows a layered testing strategy in which unit tests protect application logic, widget tests protect observable UI behavior, golden and semantics tests protect visual and accessibility contracts, integration tests verify complete workflows, and CI/CD turns verified source code into controlled release artifacts.
Whether you are an intermediate Flutter developer preparing your first production application or an experienced developer looking to improve an existing development pipeline, this book gives you a practical framework for turning working Flutter code into reliable, continuously tested, release-ready software.
Build with confidence. Test with purpose. Automate the path to production.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
