Add to basketPaperback. Things weren't looking good for the Dixie High Flyers of St. George, Utah. Midway through the season, the boys' football team had lost four of six games and, facing the best team in the region, was expected to lose once again. Then, over the span of one weekend, a miraculous change occurred within the team-and the Flyers started winning. Comprised of average-sized boys with good but not great football skills, the team's astonishing transformation had little to do with bulking up, practicing harder, or suddenly passing better or running faster. Instead, it had everything to do with incredible players and coaches who inspired the boys to get to know each other better, and therefore, to play as a team, to completely trust one another, and to love one another. James, an indispensable source of encouragement, was the heart and soul of the team even though he played very little. Emilio, weighing only 140 pounds as a defensive lineman, showed his teammates the value of sheer will and determination. And the seniors exhibited extraordinary peer leadership. A compelling true story of brotherhood, teamwork, and victory against all odds, Fly Boyz of Fall will inspire athletes and football fans of all ages. This item is printed on demand. Gerald J. Day is a sports enthusiast who has closely followed football at all levels for years. He and his wife moved from Georgia to Utah in 1989, where Day met Arthur Bracken Anderson's parents and forged a lasting friendship. Day followed Anderson's senior football season with Dixie High and encouraged him to record the team's miraculous transformation for future generations.
Arthur Bracken Anderson started playing football in the eighth grade. Despite his lack of stature and confusion about the rules of the game, good coaches and plain old-fashioned tenacity helped Anderson persevere all the way to the 2014 state championship during his senior year of high school.
