Fog Computing: Concepts, Frameworks, and Applications: Fog and Edge Computing

Fog Computing: Concepts, Frameworks, and Applications is an introductory yet comprehensive text edited by Ravi Tomar and colleagues that helps readers understand fog computing fundamentals, technologies, and use cases. It’s designed for students, researchers, and professionals—even those with little prior experience in fog computing. The book explains the basics of fog computing and its architecture, how fog relates to IoT and cloud computing, and why fog is important for low-latency distributed systems. It also covers the applications of fog computing in IoT, including real-world case studies, and discusses software-defined networking, machine learning techniques, security and privacy challenges, blockchain integration, and simulation tools for fog systems. Practical chapters include communication protocols, security considerations, and examples from telemedicine, bioinformatics, disaster management, and more.
