About this Item

Tri-fold colour printed trade card, 140 x 95 mm. text in French for use by foreign agents. Issued for the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1878. Founded in 1854 as Watkinson and Robey, it became Gamble & Robey in 1856, then the firm became known as Robey & Co. Ltd. by 1866. It manufactured portable and rolling steam engines and threshing machines; they were pioneers in developing road steamers.
