Add to basketSumptuously illustrated tribute to "folkcraft" in Japan, those ancient & colorful artistic traditions that include pottery, toys, baskets, lacquer ware, farmhouses, sculptures, & more. In 168 pages with 110 gravure plates + 18 cull-color plates. Orig. published in 1958, this is the Seventh Printing of that First Edition from 1966. Nearly square 8vo has light blue cloth covering the spine & nearly half of both boards, lettered in red & black, blending into a patterned blue/black/red cloth over the remaining boards. Condition is Fine: as clean as brand new & marred only by a bit of dust dulling. The unclipped DJ (with price intact in both yen & American dollars) is VG+, downgraded due to a 2" unclosed tear descending diagonally from head of spine into front cover. Slight bumping at heel of spine & corners. Housed in the original sturdy cardboard box/slipcase in which originally issued, which is heavily tanned, but secure, with no rips or tears or damage.
