Fonna's Change Mantel

It’s Fonna’s twelfth birthday, and her family has just moved to a new neighborhood. Unfortunately for her, she never approved. “I’m so far from my friends, and these street names are strange,” she’d sadly complain. Not even the celebration of her birthday can cheer Fonna up. That is, until she receives a rather curious (yet potentially rewarding) gift from her mother which challenges Fonna to make as many new friends as she possibly can at her new school. Will Fonna’s attempt at making friends ultimately pay-off, or will she find all of her efforts dashed to pieces? In this third children’s book by Doc Colour, “Fonna’s Change Mantel” is an impassioned and devious story with a wonderful rhyming style that is witty and fun to read. Illustrated for the first time in color, Fonna and her friends brilliantly come alive on the pages as their free-spirited personalities uniquely interact, leaving Fonna to calculate the true value of friendship.

Doc Colour was born on Halloween and grew up in the town of Sunnyvale, California. As far back as age four, he can recall finger-painting huge faces and fat trees, knowing then that he would be creating art for the rest of his life.

Doc graduated from San Jose State University with a B.A. in Graphic Design: emphasizing in Illustration. During this time, he created his unique, signature style of illustrating bold, black and white images, which he called ZOPS (you can visit Doc's website at: zops.com). These illustrations soon became a self-titled comic panel published in his school newspaper. The panel combined Doc's illustrations and quirky rhymes with an enlightening moral at the end. 

As his interest for rhyming and illustrating grew, so did his passion for writing children's books, which perfectly combine his love for words, rhyming, illustrating, graphic design, and telling unusual stories.  
Doc is also a wonderfully gifted painter, and enjoys swimming, miniature golf, waterfalls, lots of ice in all of his beverages, spicy food, clever wit, giraffes, fountains, exploring new places, burning mixed music cds, animated movies, and the Czech Republic where he had lived in Prague for 4 years.
