I really had fun writing "Pumpkin Blossoms." It's a sweet story set in a small town, much like the one I live in, and like other small towns in Illinois, it has seen it's better days. Jillian, however, can't quite see herself living anywhere else. Like all of us, Jillian yearns for love and gives it to her second grade students and a Saluki she has recently adopted from the animal shelter. That part of the story is true. I adopted a Saluki who had been abused and named him Honda. It took a lot of love before Honda quit being scared when I petted him.Jillian is scared, too, After her parents' death, she cannot move on. I loved writing Jillian's story. She has a quirky voice that is different from my novel Friends Forever, but the story still has some little plot twists that I hope you didn't see coming. O'Henry is one of my favorite short story writers, so "Pumpkin Blossoms" has a twist from the "Gift of the Magi."I had never written a short novella before, but it was long enough for me to fall in love with my characters. I hope you do, too.And if you have a chance, sample some pumpkin blossoms. Maybe you  will love them as much as my husband does. He plants a garden full to share with our neighbors.I know you will also enjoy the stories and recipes from the other authors. Randi Perrin's story told mostly through emails is so clever and realistic. And who doesn't like apple pie and peanut butter kisses? My first job was in a restaurant so I know how hard cooking and serving food can be, and it would be even harder if you had to cater an engagement party for the man you couldn't forget. The book ends with a surprising twist, a story set in the future world of superheroes. Food and Romance Go Together is a buffet of stories that should satisfy readers and leave them with a sweet taste.
