Xvi pp + 485 pages with 155 woodcuts, charts and diagrams, many folding. 4 page list of books in the "International Scientific Series" + 44 page publishers catalogue of books at the rear. Dark red cloth with gilt embossed titles on the spine, black embossed decorative boards, minor rubbing at extremes and some wear at top edge of spine, but minor, some minor light spotting here and there noted also, but minor. Uncut edges. VG. Octavo. 9th edition originally published in 1873. *Early pioneer nutritionist, writing prisoners on 93% carbs would not be able to perform hard labour, climbed the Alps to prove the nutritional value of carbohydrates compared with proteins. He also visited Texas in 1844 to ascertain its suitability for emigrants. An underrated scientist in the field of dietry intake and balanced eating. Even here he is aware of foreign foods now bing imported and the effects of those on health. He also prints a selection of foods cooked and eaten in the 1400's. Seller Inventory # 7885

We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
