'Jae has a fluid and easily accessible writing style, while the stories feature richly layered plots where high fantasy, school-year tribulations and dark nefarious deeds interweave. In short it has a broad appeal.'

I loved writing 'Fool's Gold', even though it was probably the most difficult, and definitely the most emotional, of the three books. I knew how I wanted the first chapters to run and, of course, I had a plan for the end. But, to ensure I did not lose track of the ending, I wrote the final few chapters before going back to write the 'bridging' chapters, and I found this harder going than writing in sequence from the start to the end. I particularly enjoyed creating my villain 'Elena' and developing her character - was she mad? Was she under the control of a malevolent spirit? That's for my readers to decide. Whatever your thoughts, she was a strong and fascinating character. The book was also tough to write emotionally because a few characters I had grown fond of, and knew well, died. Some members of my family found certain sections of the storyline pretty hard to take as they went through the manuscript. However, these actions were necessary in order to make the plot work and to achieve the end result and, therefore, I have no regrets.
