About this Item
Octavo. Limited to 375 copies. The present copy is unnumbered. 227 pages. The hunger for erotica was strong while the forces in power in late 19th century England and America attempted to prevent the sale of literature that dealt openly with sex. Charles Carrington and others attempted to sell titles using the titles suggesting they were merely of an anthropological nature. Besides the more scandelous items printed underground such as Fanny Hill, My Secret Life, and others on sexual proclivities, he also notes works on flagellation and details some of the more prominent French titles. Bound in paper covered boards, spine had been taped with old clear tape, paper spine label, spine ends chipped. A good copy. Seller Inventory # 029078
