Forced Farewell (Threads of Time)

Forced Farewell is a lyrical and harrowing tale of exile, survival, and impossible love set during one of the darkest chapters of North American history-the Acadian Expulsion of 1755.

When British soldiers descend on the quiet Acadian village of Grand-Pré, sixteen-year-old Adelaid's life is torn apart in a single afternoon. Families are wrenched from their land, churches burned, names erased. As her people are scattered to distant shores, Adelaid is forced into a brutal march-her childhood behind her, her future uncertain.

But when a strange rupture in time allows Adelaid brief glimpses into a world not her own, she begins to question the boundaries between history, memory, and fate. In that liminal space, she meets Zurie, a girl unlike anyone she's ever known-fierce and impossibly real. Together, they navigate the fragile edges of time and identity, tethered by grief and an urgent sense of connection.

As war closes in and choices narrow, Adelaid must decide whether to fight for her people's forgotten future or surrender to the tides of history. Either way, a farewell is coming-forced or chosen, permanent or not.
