Forest Ecosystem Services and Landscape Design

Natural and anthropogenic ecosystems can provide benefits to human communities, which can be used to increase well-being. Forest ecosystem services currently play an important role; they are of both direct and indirect interest to specialists from different fields and are receiving the attention of political decision-makers. Knowledge of these forest services has become increasingly crucial for landscape management, as they may help address some of the problems of modern society.

Landscapes are also regarded as an essential resource; their efficient valorization could improve environmental quality and human communities' well-being. A systemic, sustainable approach to landscape design is critical for the present and future generations.

This Reprint, "Recent Advances in Forest Ecosystem Services and Landscape Design", presents multi- or interdisciplinary contributions related to forestry, including experimental studies, monitoring approaches, and models, to promote knowledge regarding the conservation and the management of forest ecosystems and landscape design.
