Forest Landscape Restoration Potential Assessment: Tree based Landscape Restoration

The book evaluates the potential for forest landscape restoration in Siraro Badewacho Woreda, Ethiopia, where deforestation and land degradation are driven by population growth, overgrazing, and climate change. It identifies key challenges like water scarcity, food insecurity, poverty, and soil loss. The assessment suggests restoration options such as improving grazing management, establishing community forests, and restoring riparian areas. Over 1,150 hectares of degraded land are identified for restoration. Emphasizing techniques like agroforestry and natural regeneration, the study highlights the importance of empowering local communities and enhancing governance to reverse land degradation, improve productivity, resilience, and livelihoods.
