The Forever Swim

On August 3, 2017, Antonio Argüelles swam 35 kilometers from Northern Ireland to Scotland. When he arrived on the Scottish shore after a swim of nearly 14 hours through hypothermic currents wearing only a speedo, cap, and goggles, he became just the seventh person ever to conquer the Oceans Seven, an aquatic achievement on par with the Seven Summits. His feat made international news, in part because at 58 years old, he became the oldest athlete ever to complete the challenge. The Forever Swim illuminates key strategies anyone can utilize to pursue their own goals and reminds us that no dream, however bold, is ever out of reach, as long as we are willing to chase it down with relentless discipline and joy.

Antonio Argüelles ha sido servidor público, empresario, consultor y conferenciante, pero, sobre todo, se define como un nadador de aguas abiertas orgullosamente mexicano. Entre sus logros deportivos destacan la Triple Corona de Natación en Aguas Abiertas y los Siete Mares.  En 2009 recibió el Premio Nacional del Deporte y en 2015 ingresó al Salón de la Fama Internacional de la Natación de Fondo. El mismo año fue nombrado "Hombre del Año" por la Asociación Mundial de Natación en Aguas Abiertas (WOWSA), distinción que volvió a recibir en 2017 tras completar los Siete Mares.  Es autor, junto con Nora Toledano, de A cada brazada: el azul interminable, obra en que relata su experiencia al cruzar el canal de la Mancha.

Antonio Argüelles has gone through many stages throughout his life―public servant, businessman, consultant, writer, public speaker―but, above all, he defines himself as an open water swimmer. Among his sporting achievements, two stand out: the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Oceans Seven. In 2009, he received Mexico's National Sports Award, and in 2015, after being inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, he was named Man of the Year by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA). After completing the Oceans Seven in 2017, he was once again named WOWSA Man of the Year. He is also the co-author, along with Nora Toledano, of With Each Stroke: The Endless Blue, a book that tells the story of his English Channel swim.
