From street rat to royal prisoner, the name Ryviance Aurelia meant nothing good to the kingdom of Nostra. Not until I was stripped of my rags and forced to don royal robes when I was caught for the last time. I shouldn't complain about the blessing of a better life, but, for what it cost, I'm not sure it was worth it.

Little did I know, everything was about to change.

From the moment we met, I questioned why a god-like dragon chose me to be its rider, until my eyes were opened to the gross issues the kingdom faced. Problems that the king denied, even when the bodies of the missing came up devoid of everything—not even their poor souls could be accounted for.

The king wasn't all he pretended to be, and won't be allowed to escape the consequences of his treachery. Every part of the kingdom and its land are vital—none worth sacrificing for his delusional gain.

He thought sending me to war to die would silence me, but he was wrong.

Everything would be nought but ash, and from the ruins of war, I would emerge stronger and better than he could've imagined. His crown would belong to me, and sit atop my head. With his sons, Kaisyn and Killyan Lombardi, by my side, I would dethrone him. Together, we would usher in a new era of unity.

It was time for the old world to burn, so a new life could bloom forth from the ashes.

A new age between Dragonkind and humankind was on the horizon.
