Reviews
Ages 3-5. In this wordless picture book, Santa overlooks a toddler's stocking, and the determined child is not to be denied. Climbing out of the crib, the enterprising toddler follows Santa to the roof and winds up hanging from the flying sleigh by his baby blanket. Upon being discovered when Santa Claus lands at the North Pole, the child is rewarded for his perserverance with a tour, then returned home. The next day, the child joyfully awakens wearing Santa's red hat. Mayo's watercolors, which rely heavily on a palette of red and blue, sometimes appear a little muddy, but they clearly and satisfyingly represent the story's action. A good additional title for large holiday collections. Janice Del Negro
