Form and Meaning, Comparative Context and History of Sanskrit Epics

This volume brings together a series of studies that advance our understanding of the Sanskrit epics and Puranas. The published papers examine their linguistic usage, metrical patterns and literary composition, the relationship between mythic and epic texts, both Indian and Greek, the interrelation between Sanskrit epics and Buddhist texts, the complex text history of the Mahabharata, and various literary aspects of the Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas. Some of the contributions in this volume might prove indispensable to serious scholars who deal with these topics.
