Fort Suicide and The Brave Rifles: Two Full Length Western Novels

Western Writers of America Owen Wister Award winner Gordon D. Shirreffs was known for telling exciting and action-packed tales of the American West.

During Fort Suicide, within the walls of Fort Joslyn, there are sixty-seven officers and men fit to fight, fifty mutinous outcasts being held prisoners awaiting trial, and worst of all, twenty-five helpless women. Outside the fort is a swarm of blood-crazed Apaches ready to come through the gates and destroy them all. With no hope of overcoming the daunting dilemma facing them, the brave men of Fort Joslyn must prepare to meet their maker and take down as many Apache as they can beforehand.

Even the bravest of men are no match for their captors in The Brave Rifles. Sioux indians were experts at torture, having created some of the most diabolical methods known to man. They tortured not to get information, but to instill fear and to terrorize their enemies. When a man is found by the Cavalry, still barely alive, they get to see the Sioux’s handy work up close.
