Fortunate: The Fabulous, Fantastic Filly

On a chilly March morning, a beautiful foal named Fortunate is born...three weeks before she is expected! She is small and shivering, but her mother, Bonnie Lass, and their human friends at West Branch Horse Farm love Fortunate very much. They are determined to help her grow up big and strong--to become a Fabulous, Fantastic Filly!

Fortunate: The Fabulous, Fantastic Filly is based on a true story. It is written for prekindergarten through third grade students and is filled with colorful, realistic illustrations of Fortunate and her friends.

For thirty-five years, Debbie Brady Shellady worked as an educational consultant for the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency. She also served as a school counselor for Bennett Community Schools. Debbie has a bachelor of arts degree from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, and a master of arts from the University of Iowa. Debbie currently lives in Iowa City. She enjoys dressage and flying as a private pilot.
