Item description from seller

Hardcover. 7 3/4" X 5 1/8". 122pp, plus ads for crystal balls. Bound in red cloth over boards, with pictorial title label to upper board. Rather heavy wear to binding, with hard bumping to split corners, small tears to head and tail of sunned spine, and scattered rubbing and soiling, with partial loss to pictorial label to upper board. Toning, staining, and soiling to endpapers. Previous owner's name to front free endpaper and arithmetic to rear pastedown. Front hinge shows sign of inexpert repair of previous cracking; binding remains firm and sound. Open tear to lower corner of front free endpaper and half-title. Heavy age-toning to pages throughout with occasional smudge, and small stain to lower margin of pages 64-70. Label of C. Alexander over Advanced Thought Publishing Co. on title page. An admittedly well-used but workable circa 1900 edition. The secrets of cartomancy and the art of divination are at your fingertips with this circa 1900 edition of Professor Foli's guide to fortune-telling, primarily with a standard deck of playing cards, with two brief chapters on Tarot, with spreads including: the 32-card method, the French method, the Italian method, the Grand Star, and Etteilla's Tarot spread. Professor P. R. S. Foli was the nom de plume of Sir Cyril Arthur Pearson (1866-1921), newspaperman and baronet. .…

Underground Books, ABAA is an online rare and antiquarian bookshop, founded in 2011 as a brick and mortar general bookstore of the same name in downtown Carrollton, Georgia, which is now operated by out former store manager as The Underground Bookshop. Co-owners Josh Niesse and Megan Bell met in 2011, just 10 days or so after Josh opened the doors of Underground Books, literally underground, several steps below street level in a 100-year-old basement in our historic downtown. Megan, an English student at the University of West Georgia, walked in, fell down the rabbit hole, and never left! Reader, we married in May of 2014, under the book arch that now resides at the bookshop. We are both proud alumni of the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS), and Megan additionally of Rare Book School at the University of Virginia and of the ABAA Women’s Initiative Mentorship Program. Like many booksellers with open brick-and-mortar stores, we are passionate generalists, but our specialties are in decorative publisher's cloth bindings; fairy tales, folklore, and mythology; popular science and natural history; the occult; and fine press books.…
