I’m Just a Foster Parent...and This Is How I Survive: A Foster Parent’s Guide to Surviving Without Burning Out

This book was written for the foster parent who tries so hard, loves with their whole heart, and still wonders if they’re doing enough.

With vulnerability and honesty, Mila Banfield shares the tools, mindsets, and hard-won lessons that have helped her stay grounded in the chaos and pages are full of what matters most. These pages are filled with her lived insights and kind of wisdom that can only come from doing this work – day after day.

You don’t need perfection to make impact. You just need the courage to keep showing up.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mila Banfield is a foster parent, mom and advocate from British Columbia. She has spent years caring for children and supporting families through some of their hardest seasons.

Mila doesn’t write as an expert or a professional, but as someone who has lived the long days, the emotional appointments, the transitions, and the quiet moments in between.

Her hope is simple: that by sharing her heart, another caregiver might feel seen, supported, and a little less alone.
