Folio is virtually pristine and intact except for slightly bumped corners and minuscule age toning. A Fine copy. Front colophon: "This keepsake, printed in an edition of 250 copies, is proudly presented by the California State Library Foundation on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the California State Library." The keepsake contains a facsimile letter by Colonel J. D. Stevenson, which he wrote on the occasion of presenting books to the first California Legislature when it met to establish a state library. "One-half facsimile" of the California State Library's first book catalog tipped in on panel facing Stevenson's facsimile letter. Notably, Stevenson's gift was the first donation and acquisition of books at the California State Library.
